Why is the home networking kit so shit?

The wireless routers are not too bad, but as soon as you want a desktop POE switch there is fuck all decent?

All the cables want to be plugged into the front of the switch making the shelf where it sits look like shit?

Industrial designers who work for these companies please remove your heads from your collective ass and make something that will look good on the shelf / desk
